I HAVE CANCER
|
Hi, I am a 25 year old female with cancer. I have a wonderful and supporting husband, and 3 great kids I would not trade a thing for. I was dignosed with cancer back in 1985. I remember the day at least what happened anyway. I was 10 years old and woke up one morning with real bad stomach pains, and a my fever was dropping I was throwing up and freezing to death. My mom took me to the doctor and the docotor said: If you do not get her to the hospital now she will die. So out the door and to the hospital. I went right into surgery, and they removed 3/4 of my stomach, and I had to have a blood transfusion. In 1986 I had to have surgery again on my bladder, and surgery again in 1987 had to have my kidney removed. After all that I did not have anymore problems till November 16th 1998. I was passing out running fever and I was pail as a ghost. So on February 3, 1999 I went back into the hospital to have surgery again, this time they took my whole stomach out half my pancris out and my spline all at one time, I was in the hospital for 2 weeks, 2 long weeks. when I returned home so far in the whole it took us 2 months to get out of the hole. I am doing a little better now I guess the doctor says the cancer is back in my lymphnoids and this time it can not be removed.

MOM'S WITH CANCER AND THERE KIDS
|
I am starting a program for moms that have cancer and kids. The program is called MOM"S WITH CANCER AND THERE KIDS.
Mothers are not suppose to die before raising their children to adulthood, and children should not have their world shattered prematurely. Yet an increasing number of women between the ages of 20-59 are raising their children while coping with cancer. Hospital reviews of mothers with cancer are unavailable. Mothers are invisible, under served groups. While there are many support groups and ancillary services for women with cancer, perhaps the deepest and most complex need of all remain unaddressed. Mothers with cancer want to create a legacy of spirit, meaning, and value for their children.
MWCTK-is a project that brings attention, compassion, and support in parenting, and dignity to mothers who have cancer. The project provides the following outcomes: * a healing and empowering process for the mother at any stage of illness. *a vehicle for community awareness and support. *a precious gift of manuscript and living legacy for children and other loved ones.
The objective of MWCTK are to: * develope, and evaluate innovative methods and material with a diverse group of mothers who have cancer and are parenting children under 18. *create a carefully crafted replicable model for community use. So we ask for your help to help these mothers and their children.
